I pondered mon this for days, well actually a couple of weeks, , kept changing my mind, first of all, I was going to frame it inna narrow strip of red, then I thought deep pink, these were some of the colours in Wendy's blue surrounds.
No I went to my friends shop, and looked at fabric for two hours, before deciding on the dark purple, then the triangles were paper pieced, I was lucky there was some Kaffe Fassett fabric that said, grab me, I will look great, so I just did that, then chosenthe pale blue and pale purple to compliment it all.
When it was done, I was 99.87% happy, mit just required something,, so I sat on it for couple of days, and wallah, decided on the dark purple to go around the outside.
In today's mail, Alice's block arrived, mmmmmmmmm. I am flying to Brisbane next Wednesday for nine days, so probably will not do anything before I go, but I have an idea in my head.
Thank you for taking time to stop by. Happy stitching. Sharon
It's great hearing your processes of choosing fabrics. It can be really hard sometimes to get just the right fabric. Your block looks great!
ReplyDeleteThank you Rachael, I get so indecisive, thinking what if etc. I am rather pleased how the block turned out. :)
DeleteHi Sharon. Thank you so much for this. I'm sure it will be great. Most things with Kaffe in them are great in my eyes. I don't like to think that you spent 2 hours choosing the fabric - I hope it was an enjoyable 2 hours and not full of anguish. There's no rush with Alice's block - it doesn't have to be done until 29 Sept so you've got 2 months for that one. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteThe two hours I was in the fabric shop went to quick it was not funny, only felt like half an hour or short time. (I also bought some pattern books, and needles for applique!!). I had lots of fun choosing fabric and doing the first border.
DeleteOh good, two months for Alice's block, (time sort of gets out of proportion with shift work, never know what day it is) well I shall not stress then.
I'm sure that time spent shopping for fabric was painful! ;)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the colours in this one in person. I don't have any Kaffe-type prints so I'm going to have to do a lot of fabric trialling to find what's right! Starting to have ideas on what to do with it next though!
Oh yes very painful - not - I can spend hours in fabric stores, rather enjoyably!
DeleteI am becoming familiar with the colours Wendy likes (peacock!) and although it is difficult to see in the photo I am sure from your description that you got them spot on.
ReplyDeleteThe photo did not do it justice, must be the lighting :(
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Wendy will be very happy that you put Kaffe fabric in her quilt! Those lovely rich toned Kaffe fabrics really make the centre star pop :)
