Hello and Welcome
I am not sure what happened my original post fore the New Bloggers Blog Hop was written and I thought I had set it to publish at 13.00 hours Brisbane Time, but alas, I have just checked now and no post. So now I am trying to remember what I had written.
First of all I would like to thank Beth from Plum and June for hosting the Blog Hop.
A little about myself, I am a fifty something mother, grandma, registered nurse and crafter. My main passion is patchwork and quilting, though I do enjoy knitting and cross-stitch. I have been sewing since I was eight years old, and quilting since August 2000. Quilting is an addition to me.
I used to do Folk Art, until I fell onto the Quilting Train, how I got involved, I was in the Newsagent in Mossman, NQ, one Saturday and a dear friend said Sharon, oh you must come along, you would enjoy this, I still was not sure what "this" was. Anyhow, I let my friend tell me of her new hobby and thought why now go along, it might be fun, well I was hooked.
Here are a few of my quilts and bags and other things I have made. Unfortunately, I do not have photos of my earlier quilts, they are on 35mm film.
I shall say by for now as there are a lot of other interesting blogs to visit this round, they are listed below.
Thank you for taking time to stop by. Happy stitching. Sharon

Quilting Tip
Always keep your quick-unpick close by, it is sure to be a great friend and not one to be hidden.
Blogging Tips
Where to begin, mmm, have your blog easy to navigate; photos of a good size so people can see them without having to squint; do not assume everyone is tech-savvy, give clear instructions if things are tricky.
A Curly Question

Hi Sharon, A beautiful part of the country you live in. Only have 1 project on the go, no way I have at least 8 projects in different stages so depending on my mood, there is always something for me to pick up and work on.
ReplyDeleteYes I need various projects on the go, especially in varying sizes, some to go, some to do at home, some hand sewing, some machine sewing etc.
DeleteHi Sharon, I really love your minion. Please make Dave, the one with 2 eyes, too. :-)
ReplyDeleteI always have many projects at the same time. While I'm making one, and another project pops up in my mind, I mostly switch to the new one. It's hard to resist the fresh idea. :-)
Ok, Dave will be made, but a little later on, am a little over extended at present. Yes new ideas are hard to resist.
DeleteFINISH one project before I start another? Wash your mouth out with soap, Sharon! I do no such thing! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the doggy quality control. They do like to test fabric for snuggliness, don't they!
All I can say, is I agree 110% with you comments!!
DeleteLove your garland of Golliwogs! My daughter's have a B1 and B2 knitted dolls too and they love them! I usually try and finish one project before I start another ... but this is slipping lately ... it's a steep slope too I hear!
ReplyDeleteOh no, you will be on the many projects bandwagon, before long, it starts off slow, then comes whamo, oh no which project will I do today!!
DeleteHi Sharon! I really do try to finish up a project before I move on to the next, but that isn't always possible. I think the most WiPs I've had at once was earlier this year (6) because I went to a weekend class and came home with 5 new projects! Eep! I really like the knitted minion - they are so fun!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had the strength to complete one project before commencing a new one, maybe that can be my resolution for 2015??
DeleteI try only to have a couple of projects going at any time. If I get more than 2 or 3 then I never finish anything. I prefer one at a time, but sometimes have 2 or 3.
ReplyDeleteFinishing some are like take a number at the deli, some are waiting until I go to the city to get that special fabric.
DeleteYour projects are lovely! What exactly is a golliwog? I usually have a bunch of projects on the go, in different stages. That way I can pick whatever I feel like doing on a given day and eventually all the projects get finished. Emphasis on the eventually!
ReplyDeleteGolliwogs are handmade black fabric dolls with bright clothes.
DeleteNice to meet you Sharon! Thanks for your introduction post, it's great to read more about you. I definately one for working on one project at a time, it must be the concluder-producer in me! That said, I do like to have lots of projects lined up for what's next....
ReplyDeleteJen
Maybe I could put down the many projects to being a nurse, for instance we have four or five patients on a shift and have to time manage, maybe that is the way I look at quilting??
DeleteNice to read more about you! I work on several projects at a time, but only 2 or 3. Otherwise I get overwhelmed! I do have plenty on my wishlist though!
ReplyDeleteI also have a wishlist, and am adding to it at present instead on commencing anymore projects.
DeleteYour stitchery is beautiful. I love how you use it in quilts and bags. I like to have one to two projects going at a time. Right now I have a long-term hand sewing quilt and a quilt that just needs binding.
ReplyDeleteI like to have at least one hand sewing quilt on the go, great for times when you have to go out or have a couple of minutes spare.
DeleteOh God, that is a curly question. No, I have many many WIPs... I have quilters ADHD, I'm sure :).
ReplyDeleteI like that quilters ADHD :)
DeleteHi there, fellow blog hop host! I had a similar catastrophe when I was prepping my post for the hop. After working on it on and off for weeks, it disappeared and I had to start from scratch. Here's hoping that never happens again! I tend to have a bunch of WIPs on the go, but sometimes I make myself finish a particular project before I'll "allow" myself to start something new. It helps keep me on track!
ReplyDeleteI finally found my "lost"post, it was hidden in drafts :(
DeleteI am trying very hard to finish off one before starting another, now, though I will always have many WIPs.
Hi Sharon. What cute knitting you do! I'm sure your grandchildren will like those toys. I always have more than one project on the go - more than one quilting project and more than one embroidery project. That's what makes life interesting. I hope you're having fun adding to my Possum Magic centre.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the kind comments. Yes I am having lots of fun deciding and changing my mind on what I am doing on your centre, but today it is sealed in stone so to speak.
DeleteI'm a magpie, I keep gathering shiny things and just can't seem to work on one project at a time! Love your JRT. We have a miniature too called Charly. She's 5kg and thinks shes 50kg!
ReplyDeleteHaha, we have a lot in common, even down to our furbabies, my little angle weighs 4.6kgs and thinks she is a BIG dog.
DeleteI like to have just a few projects going at a time. Otherwise I get so many going and I never get any done! So I usually only have three going at once tops. For the most part it seems to be working! LOL! Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteMy resolution for next year will be to cut down on the number of WIPs.
Deletereally sweet projects - I love the knitted minion!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind comment. Grandson Number One loves his minion,
DeleteI'm glad I caught this post, it's fun to read about you and see your wonderful creations. I bet your parents love the quilts you made for them, and the garland of golliwogs is so cute.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rachaeldaisy, my Mum says she has a little piece of me always with her, though it took her a while to use the quilt, she said it was to good to use. The golliwogs are for my daughter , she loves them and collects them.
DeleteI see you have quite a variety while creating. I like variety too that's why I have many projects in progress, lol.
ReplyDeleteThey say variety is the spice of life, well it is the spice of my quilting life!
ReplyDeleteLots of lovely makes, I really like to have a variety of projects on the go at one time too. And I'm terrible with my quick unpick, always burying it and having to hunt for it, I definitely need to take note of your tip!
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you, Sharon! Popping over on the hop. You certainly have a wide variety of projects in addition to your quilts - and it looks like you have a very helpful "helper" ; )
ReplyDeleteI hop around from project to project but my 'rule' is that when my WIPs take over my design wall and the five plastic storage boxes I use to organize them, I need to finish one before I start something new. The caveat to this is of course projects that I have to do for design teams / sponsors, etc. It helps me stay focused though! Your helper reminds me of my beagle, Dudley. That was his favorite way to hang out. :)
